Frequently Asked Questions – Basic RiderCourse 2 (BRC2)

1. Do you price match for BRC2 classes?

Yes! We want you to get a fair deal. Here's how it works:

• Price matching is available for courses in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
• The competitor's class must be on the same date and be the same duration as the BRC2 course you want to take.
• We cannot price match classes on different dates, with different durations, or that are full/unavailable.
• Request the price match when registering and provide proof of the lower price.
• Price matching cannot be combined with other offers or discounts, and does not apply to gift certificates or Groupon deals.

2. Who should take BRC2?

BRC2 is perfect for experienced riders who are new to Texas or who already have riding experience and want a license endorsement. This one-day course focuses on brushing up your skills, reinforcing safe riding techniques, and gaining confidence on your own motorcycle or one of ours.

3. What's the difference between BRC and BRC2?

• BRC: Designed for beginners, about 16 hours of combined online and hands-on instruction. Covers fundamentals, safety, and confidence-building.
• BRC2: Tailored for riders with prior experience. One-day intensive course to refresh skills, practice maneuvers, and gain confidence. Covers the same exercises as BRC but at a faster pace, ideal for experienced riders.

4. Can I use my own motorcycle for BRC2?

Yes! You may use your street-legal 2-wheel motorcycle or scooter, but it must be:

• Properly registered and insured
• Pass our T-CLOCS inspection

We also have motorcycles and scooters available if you prefer to use ours.

5. What's included in BRC2?

BRC2 includes:

• Four-hour online training (completed at home before class)
• Hands-on motorcycle instruction
• Skills assessment and practice of core maneuvers
• Informal discussions based on your riding experience

Upon successful completion, you'll receive the MSB-8 Completion Card, which is required for your Texas motorcycle license.

6. Can I learn to ride a motorcycle if I'm short?

Many shorter riders successfully learn to ride motorcycles and scooters! Our training fleet includes a variety of motorcycles and scooters selected to accommodate riders of different heights and sizes. However, because motorcycles and scooters are manufactured in standard sizes, we cannot realistically guarantee that our equipment will accommodate riders of every possible height or size.

If you're concerned that your height or leg length may affect your ability to safely support our training equipment, you will need to contact us BEFORE registering to schedule an equipment fit check, by appointment only. During this visit, you'll have the opportunity to sit on the motorcycle or scooter so we can assess whether you can safely support it.

If you own a motorcycle that has been modified to accommodate your height or size, you may be able to use it for training. Please contact us BEFORE registering to discuss this option, subject to school approval and applicable course requirements.

Important: Students must be able to safely support the motorcycle or scooter used during training. If you arrive for class and cannot safely support the equipment due to its size or seat height, you will not be eligible for a refund or rescheduling, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions.

7. How much riding experience do I need for BRC2?

BRC2 is not for beginners. You should have:

• Several months of riding experience in a variety of settings (residential streets, freeways, rural or busy highways)
• Ability to start and stop smoothly, shift gears, perform U-turns without putting your feet down, and stop accurately at designated points

If you're new to riding, start with the Basic RiderCourse (BRC) first.

8. Is there a skills assessment before the class?

Yes. A pre-course skills assessment ensures you can perform basic riding maneuvers.

• If you don't pass, you cannot continue in BRC2.
• You can reschedule for the full BRC at a reduced fee, but no refunds are provided if you fail the assessment.

9. What should I bring to BRC2?

Bring the following mandatory protective gear (required by Texas DPS/MSF):

• Long-sleeve shirt or jacket
• Long pants made of sturdy material (no holes)
• Sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear that fully covers the ankle
  • Allowed examples: motorcycle riding boots, over-the-ankle hiking boots, sturdy over-the-ankle athletic shoes
  • Footwear must be made of sturdy material (no canvas)
  • Low-ankle shoes are not allowed
• Full-fingered gloves
• DOT-approved helmet
• Eye protection (glasses, sunglasses, goggles, or face shield on helmet)

If using your own motorcycle, it must be street-legal, registered, and insured.

Important: These gear requirements are strictly enforced for your safety. Students without proper gear will not be allowed to ride.

10. Will I get my motorcycle license immediately after BRC2?

Upon successful completion, you'll receive the MSB-8 Completion Card from Texas DPS. Bring this card to any TX DPS office to add your motorcycle endorsement to your driver's license.

11. Can BRC2 completion give me insurance discounts?

Yes! Many insurance companies offer discounts for completing an approved motorcycle safety course. Check with your insurance provider to see how the MSB-8 card can save you money.

12. What if I don't pass BRC2?

If the RiderCoach determines you cannot safely meet course objectives, you may be dismissed from the class.

You can reschedule for additional training or the full Basic RiderCourse (BRC) at an additional cost.

13. Can beginners take BRC2?

No. BRC2 is specifically for riders with prior experience. If you're a beginner, take the Basic RiderCourse (BRC) instead.

14. What is the refund and cancellation policy for BRC2?

We know life happens!

Rescheduling: Students may reschedule their class without penalty if notice is provided at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled class start date. Reschedule requests made less than 48 hours prior to class start will incur a $50 rescheduling fee.

Registration Holds: Requests to place a registration on hold must be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled class start date. Registrations may be placed on hold for up to six (6) months from the original registration date. During that time, the value of the original tuition may be applied toward a future class, subject to any applicable tuition increases.

After six (6) months, the original registration expires and is archived from our registration system. Attendance at a future class after this expiration date will require a new registration and current tuition payment.

Registrations placed on hold remain subject to the course's non-refundable policy.

No-Shows: Tuition is non-refundable and will be applied toward the reserved class seat, course materials, and associated administrative and instructional costs.

Refunds: Courses are non-refundable. Documented emergency situations may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis if submitted prior to the scheduled class start date. Approved exceptions, if any, may be subject to administrative and processing fees and must be resolved within the six (6) month registration period before the original registration is archived from our system.

Once the scheduled class has begun, refunds are not available for failed or partial attendance, or non-completion of the course.
